Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary

Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary are typically meant for the learners from stage 1 to stage 9 with a world-class curriculum to develop learners’ skills and understanding of English as a Second Language, Mathematics, Science and Global Perspective.
Cambridge Primary pinpoints strengths and weaknesses of the students which further supports learning and development. It prepares learners for the smooth transition to Cambridge Secondary and beyond. It enables teachers to assess children’s learning as they progress with two optional assessments: Cambridge Progression Test and Checkpoint.

Cambridge Primary Progression Test

  • • It provides a valid internal assessment of knowledge, skills and understanding of English, Maths and Science.
  • • Tests are available to assess every year.
  • • It gives detailed information about the performance of each learner in stages 3 to 9.
  • • These tests are marked in the school.
  • • Tests are graded using the proprietary Cambridge Primary-Progress Checker analysis tool and can only be downloaded from Secured and Cambridge-supported sites. This information is not available on the Cambridge International Examination commercial website.
  • • Young Gemynds International School is currently following progression tests and checkpoints to assess students at the primary and lower secondary education level.

Cambridge Checkpoint Test

Cambridge Primary Checkpoint assesses individual and group performance at the end of an elementary school program. These tests are flagged by Cambridge International and provide additional feedback to share with parents.

  • • These tests are available for English as a first or second language, Math, Science and Cambridge Global Perspective.
  • • We can see how learners are performing against an international benchmark, and in comparison, to the rest of their class.
  • • We will receive a diagnostic feedback report and students will receive a statement of results from the Cambridge Assessment International Education.
  • • There are two exam series available: May and October.
  • • This test is available at the end of the Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary programs (levels 6 and 9).

IGCSE
International General Certificate of Secondary Education

It is the most popular qualification offered by Cambridge Assessment International Education for 14 to 16-year-old. It gives students more option than any other International curriculum. The IGCSE certificate is recognized across the globe. For subject offerings please visit our curriculum page.
Cambridge IGCSE exam sessions are held twice a year in June and November. Results are published in August and January.

  • • The Cambridge IGCSE assessment is conducted at the end of the IGCSE course and can include written, oral, coursework, and practical assessments.
  • • This gives students more opportunities to show what they are learning, especially if their first language is not English. Cambridge IGCSE levels are suitable for a wide range of skills, as many subjects have a choice between a core curriculum and an extended curriculum. Students can achieve internationally recognized grades from A* to G at IGCSE.

AS/ A level
ADVANCE SUBSIDIARY AND ADVANCED LEVEL (Age 16 to 19)

The students are allowed to make a choice between Cambridge AS and A level, a 2-year course and AS level, a 1-year course, to complete their AS/ A level qualification. A student can follow the Cambridge path to complete his or her assessment. For subject offerings please visit our curriculum page.

Assessment options available at Young Gemynds International School, MZ008:

  • 1. We offer Cambridge International AS Level only (one year).
  • 2. We offer a ‘staged’ assessment route – a student can take the Cambridge International AS Level in one examination series and complete the final Cambridge International A Level in a subsequent series.
  • 3. AS Level marks can be carried forward to a full A Level twice within a 13-month period.

The Cambridge International AS & A Level exam series is offered twice a year in June and November. Results will be announced in August and January. Students can achieve internationally recognized grades with clear guidelines for explaining success criteria. Students can score on a grade scale from A * (highest) to E (minimum required). There is no A* grade for Cambridge International AS level, which run from grade A to E. The core syllabus is not available at the AS and A levels.
